The Lady Downe Award

“My thanks for the Trustees for their generous award which helped very much towards my medical elective abroad… I have been able to see many conditions which I had previously only read about, and which I would not otherwise have come across”

The Lady Downe Award Scheme

The Lady Downe Award scheme enables young persons aged between 18 and 25, who have completed their full-time education, to take up opportunities in fields such as music, sport, visual and performing arts, industrial, business and academic training.  Awards do not normally exceed £3000. These grants have enabled young people to travel abroad for work placements, to start careers in dancing, acting and film directing, to undertake postgraduate courses, and to take part in international charitable and scientific schemes.

After submitting an outline of their proposal, applicants are interviewed by the trustees, who invite feedback on completion of their projects.
